Changsha and Nairobi — 9,000 kilometers apart. Two pieces of land with different climates, different soils, different farming traditions. But now they share something in common: a chili seed from Changsha, central China's Hunan Province.

长沙与内罗毕，相距9000公里。两片土地，气候不同，土壤不同，耕作传统也不同。如今，一粒来自中国中部湖南省长沙的辣椒种子，将它们连在了一起。

Meet Zhou Yamin. A farmer from Ansha Town in Changsha County, he has traveled between China and Kenya six times since October 2025 to bring Changsha's proven agricultural techniques to East Africa.

故事要从周亚民说起。他是长沙县安沙镇的一名农民，自2025年10月起，已六次往返于中国和肯尼亚之间，将长沙成熟的农业技术带到了东非大地。

On a farm 60 km from Nairobi, his team planted 6.7 hectares (100 mu) of Changsha-bred chili peppers. The results are in: a yield of 4,000 kg per mu, and the harvest has already hit shelves in Nairobi's markets. Local buyers say they taste better, look better, and have a finer texture than local varieties.

在距内罗毕60公里的一处农场里，他的团队种下了100亩长沙选育的辣椒品种。首季答卷已经交出：亩产4000公斤，收获的辣椒已摆上内罗毕市场的货架。当地买家反馈，这些辣椒比本地品种品相更好、口感更佳、肉质更细腻。

But the real story is bigger than peppers. Zhou employs over 100 local workers and is training young Kenyans to become farm managers — passing on not just seeds, but a modern farming mindset. Backed by experts from the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, his Changsha base continues to develop new varieties and optimized techniques destined for African soil.

但这个故事远不止于辣椒。周亚民在农场雇用了100多名当地工人，正着手培养一批肯尼亚青年成长为农场管理者——他传递的不仅是种子，更是一种现代农业理念。在湖南省农科院专家的技术支撑下，他在长沙的大后方基地还在持续选育新品种、优化栽培技术，源源不断地输向非洲土地。

"At first, they asked us why we farm this way. Now they ask — can you teach us?" Zhou says.

"起初，他们问我们为什么要这样种。现在，他们问——能不能教教我们？"周亚民说。

A seed born in Changsha. A harvest in Kenya. A new chapter in China-Africa agricultural cooperation.

一粒种子，生于长沙。一季收获，成于肯尼亚。中非农业合作，正翻开新的一页。
