In the height of summer, Zhangjiajie, known for its cool climate and world-class landscapes, has seen a surge of inbound visitors seeking relief from the scorching heat. Tourists from Europe, Southeast Asia, and other countries are heading to the mountains to enjoy the fresh breezes and natural coolness.

Tianmen Mountain, soaring over 1,500 meters above sea level, feels like a natural "air-conditioned room," with average temperatures of just 22°C to 26°C. Over the past few days, throngs of foreign tourists headed up the mountain to escape the summer heat. They strolled along cliffside plank walkways and gazed at distant peaks, immersing themselves in the breathtaking karst peak forest landscape. The iconic 999-step stairway to Tianmen Cave rises dramatically against the mountain, which has become a must-do for visitors from around the world.

At the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area, streams babble through the green mountains and gorges, where uniquely shaped karst peaks and gently flowing waters create a natural painting. Tourists stroll along the mountain walkways leisurely, immersing themselves in the cool mountain air and refreshing breezes.

The iconic Yuntiandu Glass Bridge spans the canyon, attracting numerous foreign tourists to stop for photo opportunities.

Beyond the natural scenery, adventure activities such as "via ferrata" on sheer cliffs and high-altitude zip-lining across valleys cater to overseas tourists' taste for extreme sports, making them unmissable and highly popular.

Continuous Optimization of Entry Policies Fuels Summer Travel Boom

Benefiting from the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, Zhangjiajie Port has become a crucial gateway for foreign tourists to visit Hunan. Currently, the port operates 13 passenger air routes to eight countries and regions. Efficient customs clearance within 30 minutes and passport-swiping access to scenic spots have become standard practice.

Since July, Tianmen Mountain has been drawing global visitors with its coolness and spectacular scenery to appreciate China's natural beauty. Around 15,000 visits are received daily, with inbound travelers making up roughly 15%, a year-on-year increase of 51.72%. The scenic area features multilingual signage in Chinese, English, and Korean, alongside volunteer service stations and visitor-friendly amenities like time-slot booking and shaded rest zones, easing the seasonal travel rush and ensuring a comfortable summer experience.

Seeing a boom in trips for family summer escape, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area has rolled out a range of sightseeing and experiencing itineraries to cater to different needs. Since July, the scenic area has received nearly 10,000 visits a day, with inbound travelers making up more than half of the total. To keep pace with the growing number of foreign tourists, the scenic area has continued to enhance its services for foreign visitors, upgrading multilingual signage and reception facilities, and bolstering its overall capacity for inbound tourism.
