"After visiting our company, this South American client headed straight to the company across the street to inspect auxiliary electric porcelain products," said Yi Canjiang, deputy general manager of a Hunan-based electric porcelain and appliance company, on July 15. Yi noted that the prominent cluster advantages of Liling's electric porcelain industry play a key role in attracting a steady stream of clients.

"Wherever there is a power grid, there is Liling's electric porcelain," said Wan Sihai, executive president of the Hunan Electric Porcelain and Appliance Industry Chamber of Commerce. Wan added that Liling's electric porcelain industry has built a full product system of "insulators + electric equipment," encompassing hollow porcelain insulators, post insulators, composite insulators, line porcelain insulators, as well as transformers, ring main units, and fuses—covering all scenarios and voltage levels of power transmission. Last year, the industry's annual output value exceeded 10 billion CNY, and its export volume has ranked first nationwide for 15 consecutive years.

Electric porcelain is an insulating component made of ceramic materials that can insulate against electrical current in high-voltage environments and ensure the safe transmission of electricity. It is an indispensable core component in power grid construction. Leveraging its solid industrial foundation, Liling has been committed to the electric porcelain industry in recent years, fostering three core clusters: the China Ceramic Valley, the Dongfu Electric Power, Porcelain and Appliance Industrial Park, and the Pukou Electric Porcelain Town. Currently, Liling's electric porcelain industry boasts over 80,000 employees, forming a complete and mature cluster development ecosystem and serving as a core component of the Hengyang-Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan UHV Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment, a national-level advanced manufacturing industrial cluster. In the first quarter of this year, the output value and export volume of Liling's electric porcelain enterprises increased by 15.4% and 33.9% year-on-year, respectively.

Liling has set the goal of building a "World Electric Porcelain Capital," continuously promoting the upgrading of the electric porcelain industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green development. So far, the city has obtained over 300 patents, participated in the formulation of four industry standards, and achieved breakthroughs in multiple key technologies that fill domestic gaps. Liling's electric porcelain and appliance industry is home to seven provincial-level technical centers and more than 120 electric porcelain and related enterprises, of which 76 are above designated size. Liling has cultivated one national-level manufacturing single champion and five national-level "little giant" enterprises, with products exported to more than 40 countries and regions.
