A promotion conference on building Changsha into an advanced manufacturing hub was held on June 11, 2026. The meeting said that Changsha has cultivated three national advanced manufacturing clusters, 243 national-level specialized, refined, characteristic and innovative "little giant" enterprises, and 42 national-level manufacturing single champions. The scale of engineering machinery industry has topped China for 15 consecutive years, and the city is steadfastly advancing toward an advanced manufacturing hub.

Since the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan" period (2021-2025), Changsha has climbed from the 10th place at the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" period (2015-2020) to the 5th place in the national top 100 advanced manufacturing cities ranking. The city has successively received a series of national honors, including AI Innovative Application Pilot Zone, SME Digital Transformation Pilot, New-type Technical Renovation Pilot City, "Vehicle-Road-Cloud Integrated" Application Pilot, BeiDou Large-scale Application Pilot, and one of the first batch of cities selected to build a new-type industrialization demonstration zone.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the added value of Changsha's industries above designated size grew at an average annual rate of 7.8%, with manufacturing added value accounting for 24.3% of GDP and industry contributing 44.1% to GDP. Manufacturing enterprises are shifting from focusing on single-point advantages to enhancing systemic capabilities, stepping from the domestic market onto the global stage, and moving from traditional manufacturing to intelligent, green, and integrated development.

To accelerate the building of an advanced manufacturing hub, Changsha will take landmark projects as the pivotal lever, concentrating efforts on implementing gradient cultivation for enterprises, establishing a modern industrial system, promoting the building of industrial chains and clusters, and advancing the "AI + Advanced Manufacturing" campaign, the action for manufacturing improvement of industrial parks, and the "Enterprise Service Year" initiative. Changsha will strive to coordinate development and safety, and promote the construction of the new-type industrialization demonstration zone, achieving effective qualitative improvement and reasonable quantitative growth.
