On May 8 and 9, a completion acceptance meeting for four unit works of the third phase of the Xiangjiang River Yongzhou-Hengyang Grade-III Waterway Construction Project was held in Qiyang, Yongzhou. Four unit works of the project—the Wuxi Second Line Ship Lock, the lock gate valves and their operating devices, the fishway, and the bridge crossing the ship lock—passed the acceptance examination. As a key water transport project under the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the Ministry of Transport and Hunan Province, this project involves renovating the waterway into a thousand-tonne one, upgrading and expanding the ship lock, and constructing supporting facilities. Upon completion, the project will connect the 723-kilometer high-grade waterway from Chenglingji in Yueyang to Pingdao in Yongzhou, significantly enhancing the shipping capacity of the Xiangjiang River, promoting the development of industrial belts along the river, and laying the foundation for Hunan to build its second waterway channel to the sea.
