Recently, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) officially announced the list of demonstration villages selected for the "Villages Recognition Initiative." Five villages of Hunan Province—Aikou Village in Jishou City, Changputang Village in Fenghuang County, Nanmuqiao Village in Mayang Miao Autonomous County, Shibadong Village in Huayuan County, and Zhushan Village in Fenghuang County—made the list and were included in the FAO Food and Agriculture Museum and Network.

The selection of these model villages focused on aspects such as rural village features, traditional food culture, agritourism experiences, technological innovation, and digital empowerment. The event recognized a group of distinctive villages that embody resilience, innovation, and cultural heritage, showcasing their indispensable role in integrating traditional knowledge with modern solutions, sustaining local agrifood systems, and preserving farming and dietary traditions.

Leveraging their natural endowments and embracing innovative practices, the five selected villages in Hunan have delivered a "model answer" for rural revitalization that deeply integrates local characteristics with international standards. Aikou Village, centered on tea culture, has made efforts to increase villagers' incomes. Changputang Village has achieved revitalization by vigorously developing fruit industries such as kiwifruit and honey pomelo. Nanmuqiao Village pioneered a new Party building model—"joint village innovation and collective problem-solving," which has become an exemplary practice. Shibadong Village has deeply tapped into its revolutionary heritage, green resources, and ancient cultural legacy, presenting its "tremendous changes" as the "birthplace of targeted poverty alleviation." Zhushan Village has innovatively developed the rural tourism industry, rapidly becoming both an internet-famous village and a prosperous one.
