On May 9, residents enjoyed relaxing and shopping at the newly built Guitang Neighborhood Center in Yuhua District, Changsha. The center was created by repurposing the space beneath the Laodong Road Overpass. The space is thoughtfully divided into three main functional zones: more than 60 intelligent parking lots addressing the "parking shortage" in the surrounding area; a community-oriented commercial street featuring fresh produce, breakfast, and other retail offerings; and, a 5,000-square-meter public sports and recreation square with eight standard badminton courts, basketball courts, and a children's playground. This model of "spatial revitalization, convenient services, and shared vitality" has truly transformed the city's "gray spaces" into vibrant "neighborhood centers" full of life.
