The SEG new energy base project officially commenced operations on May 8, 2026. This marks a key strategic move by SEG Automotive E-drive System Co., Ltd. to deepen its commitment to new energy electrification and intelligent technology and to strengthen its strategic presence in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone. The facility will establish large-scale production capacity, including an annual output of 1.2 million units each of stators and rotors, 1.2 million brake-by-wire motors, and 300,000 sets of fully active suspension electro-hydraulic pumps.

It is a major capacity upgrade project by SEG E-drive, involving 250 million CNY in construction and approximately 400 million CNY in equipment investment. The project focuses on the R&D and production of core products such as drive motor stators and rotors, fully active suspension electro-hydraulic pumps, and brake-by-wire motors. Its intelligent warehouse serves as the core component of SEG E-drive's intelligent logistics system. Through the deep integration of hardware infrastructure and software systems, it has overcome the logistical challenges of a three-story building, enabling operations that are minimally staffed, paperless, and digitally intelligent.

"Once officially in production, the project will be fully capable of meeting the mass delivery demands of leading new energy vehicle customers," said Zheng Li, SEG E-drive production director. He added that the company has already established a clear strategic goal of achieving five billion CNY in sales by 2027. It was learned that SEG E-drive settled down in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone in January 2022. Over the past four years, the company has grown steadily, with operating revenue exceeding 700 million CNY in 2025. As it continues to expand market presence and strengthen technological capabilities, SEG E-drive has become a core player in the electric drive sector for new energy vehicles.

"The launch of this new energy base is not merely an expansion of production capacity, but a strategic upgrade for the SEG Automotive in terms of technological layout, industrial synergy, and global competitiveness," said Jia Hao, general manager of ZCZL (Zhengzhou) Industrial Technology Group Co., Ltd. and president of SEG Automotive E-drive System Co., Ltd. He noted that the group will take the launch of this base as a new starting point to further deepen its investment footprint in Hunan Province. The company will work hand in hand with the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone to inject stronger momentum into the transformation and upgrading of local high-end equipment manufacturing sector, as well as the high-quality economic development.

As the core hub for advanced manufacturing and the mainstay of the real economy in Hunan Province, the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone has consistently prioritized the development of the new energy vehicle industry as a key pillar with a target output value of 100 billion CNY. Currently, the zone has attracted well-known automotive and auto parts manufacturers such as SAIC Volkswagen, GAC Aion, BAIC Foton, Sany Heavy Truck, SEG Automotive, and Bosch Automotive, demonstrating a solid industrial foundation, a pronounced clustering effect, and strong momentum for growth.
