As the May Day holiday is approaching, major online travel platforms are buzzing with activity. On April 16, the Qunar travel service and Tongcheng Travel released their holiday forecast reports. Changsha once again ranked among the top 10 most popular travel destinations, while Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang also emerged as trending searches.

According to data from the Qunar travel service, as of April 16, bookings for flights and hotels for the 2026 May Day holiday have already reached their peak. Based on the total number of hotel bookings in advance, the top 10 popular destinations nationwide for the May Day holiday are Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing, Changsha, and Zhengzhou.

Data from Tongcheng Travel showed that during the May Day holiday, Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang Ancient Town in Hunan, Guilin and Yangshuo in Guangxi, and Lijiang and Dali in Yunnan, have emerged as the most sought-after travel destinations among internet users in China. On the list of the top 10 scenic spots with the highest increase in search volume nationwide, the Wuzhi Peak of Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area in Chenzhou saw a fourfold surge, ranking 10th nationally in terms of growth.

Changsha has not only attracted visitors from across China but has also sent tourists to other regions. According to data from Tongcheng Travel, travelers from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Changsha, and Jinan are the main contributors to travel during the May Day holiday.
