On March 26, a homegrown large-diameter hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM) rolled off the production line at the Second Industrial Park of the China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation (CRCHI) in Changsha. This TBM will be used in the Fortezza-Ponte Garden Railway project in Italy.

With an excavation diameter of 9.68 meters, this machine features a total length of approximately 175 meters and a total weight of about 2,600 tonnes. It is equipped with several advanced technologies, including synchronous technology combining shield tunneling with segment assembling, automated segment hoisting, and adaptive power management.
