The 2026 Taohuayuan Cultural Tourism Festival will kick off on March 28 at the Taohuayuan Scenic Area in Changde City, Hunan. The event will run through May 8.

With the theme of "Enjoy Springtime, Discover the Hidden Paradise of Taohuayuan," this year's festival marks the first major event since the Changde Culture and Tourism Group took over operations of the Taohuayuan Scenic Area. The event will showcase the area's upgrades and renovations over the past six months. The opening ceremony will feature a combination of land and water elements, with ever-changing scenery unfolding as visitors move through the venue, delivering a truly immersive cultural and tourism experience.

Centered around the two core sections in Qinxi and Qingu areas and in the "Two Mountains and One Lake" area, this cultural tourism festival features distinctive performances and experiential activities such as the peach blossom-themed Mecha and a parade of peach blossom goddesses. The event also integrates diverse elements including sports and tourism, the Fan Deng Cultural Forum, a fair featuring national intangible cultural heritage, and regular art performances, to showcase the unique charm of the scenic area in spring.

In the "Two Mountains and One Lake" area, a parade of peach blossom goddesses will be held, featuring diverse characters that display elements of China-chic trends and cyber-mecha. A variety of interactive activities will be arranged, such as the tradition of wearing hairpin flowers and the stamp collection for rewards. The festival will also launch seven ancient-style interactive performances, an enhanced Lei Cha or ground tea dining show, and regular art performances. From March 27 to 29, an intangible cultural heritage fair will open on the west bank of the Wuliu Lake, bringing together traditional opera, crafts, and cultural creative products from across the province and beyond to promote the deep integration of intangible cultural heritage and tourism.

From March 28 to 29, the "SHE-TRI" Women's Triathlon Changde Station will take place at the Liuye Lake Scenic Area, fostering the deep integration of sports and tourism. From March 27 to 28, a cultural forum will be held, featuring discussions and exchanges on topics such as the classic allegory The Peach Blossom Spring and the philosophy of pastoral retreat.

During the festival, the Taohuayuan Scenic Area will provide 1,200 suits of Hanfu for visitors free of charge every day. The area will also launch related hashtag challenges and post collection on Douyin and Xiaohongshu Apps, inviting the public to submit creative short videos and selecting the "Cultural Tourism Ambassadors."
