Governor Mao Meets with Uzbek Ambassador to China

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, met in Changsha with Uzbek Ambassador to China Farhod Arziev and his entourage on the morning of March 20, 2026.

Wang Daoxi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and vice governor of Hunan Province, attended the meeting.

Governor Mao welcomed the guests and briefed on Hunan's economic and social development. He noted that, in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Hunan and Uzbekistan have deepened and substantiated exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields including economy and trade, investment, sci-tech innovation, and health care. To date, Hunan has established friendship province and friendship city relationships with the Uzbek counterparts. Twelve Hunan enterprises have started overseas business in Uzbekistan. "Hunan-made" locomotives, storage batteries, and earthmovers are popular in Uzbekistan, while Uzbek products such as electromotors and electric generators have entered the Hunan market.

Governor Mao remarked that, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan. Hunan will make vigorous efforts to implement the significant consensus reached by the two heads of state under the guidance of the "China-Central Asia Spirit," joining hands with Uzbekistan to continuously deepen economic and trade cooperation, enhance integration and joint development in science, education, medicine, and healthcare, and expand cultural exchanges and people-to-people communication, so as to make contributions to building an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan for the new era.

Ambassador Farhod Arziev mentioned that the ancient Silk Road has connected Uzbekistan and China, as well as their peoples, for over 2,000 years, making the two countries intimate neighborhoods and good friends connected by mountains and rivers. Hunan boasts a solid agricultural foundation and strong capabilities in science and education. Hunan's manufacturing sectors, especially equipment manufacturing and agricultural machinery, are competitive in global markets. Uzbekistan sincerely invites Hunan entrepreneurs to visit and invest in the country, deepening substantial cooperation in such fields as education, agriculture, medicine, and tourism, and opening a new chapter in Uzbekistan-China friendly exchanges.
