According to the recent data from the Changsha Customs Authority, in the first two months of 2026, Hunan's exports of "new three" products—electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products showed strong growth momentum. Total exports reached a record high of 3.58 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 99.1%, which was 48.5 percentage points higher than the national average. Specifically, exports of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products reached 1.77 billion CNY, 1.69 billion CNY, and 120 million CNY, up 142.8%, 73.8%, and 26.5%, respectively.
Bulgaria, Brazil, and Malaysia emerged as Hunan's top three export destinations, while exports to markets such as ASEAN and the EU growing exponentially. In the first two months, Hunan's exports of the "new three" products to the EU, ASEAN, and South America totaled 1.2 billion CNY, 720 million CNY, and 490 million CNY, respectively, representing increases of 476.1%, 414%, and 51.6 times. In particular, exports to Bulgaria, Brazil, and Malaysia amounted to 660 million CNY, 490 million CNY, and 290 million CNY, respectively, while the province's combined exports to the three markets just reached 9.763 million CNY during the same period last year. Exported products to Bulgaria were lithium batteries, while those to Brazil and Malaysia were mainly electric vehicles. During the January-February period, exports to countries such as Belarus, Singapore, and Morocco grew by hundreds of times.
Private enterprises showed significant growth, while state-owned enterprises recorded robust export growth. In the first two months, Hunan's private enterprises exported "new three" products worth 3.08 billion CNY, a 73.9% increase, accounting for 86.1% of the province's total in this regard during the same period. State-owned enterprises exported such products worth 490 million CNY, an increase of 19.3 times.
Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan were the main exporters. In the first two months, Changsha exported 1.9 billion CNY of "new three" products, a 23.5% increase; Zhuzhou and Xiangtan followed closely behind, exporting 540 million CNY and 450 million CNY, respectively. The three cities together accounted for 80.7% of the total.
According to an analysis by the Changsha Customs Authority, Hunan introduced robust industrial policies and fostered clusters for "new three" products. The province has focused on 13 vehicle manufacturers, including BYD Changsha Branch, BAIC Motor Zhuzhou Branch, and Geely Auto Xiangtan Branch, fostering 12 champion enterprises specializing in niche markets and 23 national "little giant" firms. Therefore, industrial clusters centered on Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan have taken shape, attracting a complete industrial chain ranging from battery materials and "three electrics" systems to vehicle manufacturing, with a significant market size.
Meanwhile, vehicle manufacturing and battery production became two-wheel drive for empowering each other. Hunan's upstream and downstream enterprises in the new energy industry chain boasts strong international competitiveness. In the first two months of this year, Hunan exported lithium batteries worth 660 million CNY to Bulgaria, while electric vehicle exports to Brazil and Malaysia reached 490 million CNY and 290 million CNY, respectively, marking a hundredfold increase.
