2026 Changsha Spring Festival Lantern Fair

Taogong Temple Fair

Venue: Taogong Temple Square and the Ancient Theater

Activities: Highlights include a display of Hunan's achievements in intangible cultural heritage preservation, Hunan Opera excerpts, dragon and lion dances, Hunan embroidery, paper-cutting, lantern riddles, and stamp-collecting activities.

Han Dynasty-style Temple Fair

Duration: 9:00 AM-10:00 PM; February 17-March 3, 2026

Venue: Changsha Window on the World

Activities: The Changsha Window on the World will launch a temple fair that brings people back to the Era of Lady Xin Zhui. Visitors can watch performances, admire lanterns, savor Hunan delicacies, stroll along the first and largest Han Dynasty-style lantern street, and walk around a special lantern array formed by 999 bamboo sections, the largest of its kind in Central and South China.

Spring Festival Temple Fair

Duration: February 16-21, 2026

Venue: Fire God Palace Restaurant on Pozi Street

Activities: The temple fair showcases folk performances, New Year blessing activities, and traditional Hunan-style snacks, rekindling the Chinese Lunar New Year memories cherished by generations of Changsha locals.

Song Dynasty-style Lantern Show

Duration: 9:00 AM-9:00 PM; February 17-March 3, 2026

Venue: Changsha Fantawild Oriental Heritage Theme Park

Activities: Highlights include a lantern lighting ceremony, lantern displays, drone shows, and the release of Kongming lanterns (or small hot-air paper balloons) inscribed with blessings.

Venue: Tanhe Ancient Town

Activities: A vibrant New Year extravaganza that brings together intangible cultural heritage performances, folk parades, interactive games, and a bustling food market will be created, offering visitors immersive cultural experiences.

Song Dynasty-style Spring Festival Celebrations

Duration: February 18-March 4, 2026

Venue: Orange Isle in Changsha

Activities: The Orange Isle in Changsha will launch a series of Chinese New Year themed celebrations. Blending the elegance of the Song Dynasty (960–1279) with contemporary charm, the initiative aims to offer residents and visitors a unique Spring Festival experience. The events feature lantern shows, immersive performances, interactive activities, and more.
