Changsha Unveils 2026 Consumption-boosting Initiatives

Recently, Changsha unveiled its 2026 consumption-boosting serial initiatives at the 2026 Xingma Isle Spring Festival Folk Carnival. In 2026, Changsha will center its efforts around the core IP of "Experience China's Shopping, Feel Changsha's Hustle," adhering to the principles of "government-lead, market-driven, citywide coordination, and public participation." The city will launch four major themes, seventeen specialized campaigns, and a thousand events.

The spring season activities run from February to May, centered on "New Year's goods and trade-ins," igniting a consumption boom at the start of the year. The Spring Festival series will kick off first, with municipal and district governments investing 50 million yuan to leverage one billion yuan in corporate discounts, hosting over 100 promotional events. Simultaneously, a prize-winning invoice campaign will reward residents staying in Changsha for the holidays and tourists visiting the city with tangible benefits from their spending.

The summer season activities will be held from May to August, focusing on debut economy and youth consumption. Partnering with trendy IPs like the Strawberry Music Festival, Changsha will launch the "Debut Economy in Changsha" Youth Consumption Season. The Changsha Consumer Service Platform will officially go online, offering a one-stop hub for citywide consumption experiences and exclusive benefits.

Leveraging popular sports games such as "Xiangchao or Hunan Football League" and "XiangBA or Hunan Basketball Championship," Changsha will launch a sports consumption carnival featuring supporting scenarios such as "second venues," trendy markets, and sports activities. Concurrently, the city will roll out themed activities such as auto consumption promotion, 15-minute community life circles, nighttime in Changsha, the Premium Products for Export—China Tour, and consumption in lower-tier markets to stimulate new hotspots in youth consumption, nighttime consumption, and sports-related spending.

The autumn season activities will last from September to November, highlighting the theme of "Shopping in China, Driving in Changsha." Changsha will host the "Shopping in China Campaign (Changsha Stop)", initiate a multilingual Changsha consumer guide, and introduce a series of inbound consumer activities to elevate the internationalization of consumption.

The auto promotion campaign will be upgraded, continuing the "auto show + group buying" model to create the largest automotive consumer event in central part of China. The international consumption season, service consumption season, and Chinese culinary festival will be held simultaneously, to drive consumption toward higher quality and greater internationalization.

The winter season activities will be carried out from December to next February, returning to the classic theme of "Bringing Fortunes to Changsha." The shopping festival, now in its 19th consecutive year, aims to fully activate the consumer market around the Spring Festival period.

Changsha will also launch various events such as the digital consumption carnival, online shopping festival, time-honored brands carnival, and online new year shopping festival. These initiatives aim to revitalize and modernize traditional brands, integrate online and offline channels to boost holiday shopping, and foster a vibrant festive consumption atmosphere.
