On January 9, a batch of "Sunshine No.1" tangerines was approved for export after passing the inspection and quarantine by the Huaihua Customs Authority. The customs inspection covered several key factors such as sensory quality (e.g., appearance, freshness), phytosanitary status (pests and disease), packaging integrity, and traceability label compliance.

At the warehouse of the Zhijiang Agricultural Product E-commerce Storage, Logistics, Exhibition and Trading Center, workers placed the golden mellow tangerines into the customized boxes. These selected tangerines will embark on a 23-day journey across the Pacific Ocean.Through a "full-process cold-chain freshness preservation + standardized packaging" mode and optimized land-sea intermodal transport service, the exporting company tried to ensure the tangerines' taste remained largely unaffected despite the over-20-day transportation. "Canada holds rigorous requirements for the quality, quarantine, and packaging of the tangerines. However, the 'Sunshine No.1' tangerines are resistant to storage by nature. And we have further enhanced them with advanced technologies, so that the tangerine quality can be ensured," said a spokesperson of the tangerine exporting company.

This shipment of tangerines, totaling 3,800 boxes and weighing 9,500 kg, marked Zhijiang's first export of tangerine products to the Canadian market, and also Huaihua's first export of tangerine products in 2026.

To help expand the overseas markets for Huaihua's tangerines and other distinctive agricultural products, the Huiahua Customs Authority has taken the initiative to provide front-load services. It designated task forces to assist the farmers, controlling quality from the source, to help strengthen the quality and competitiveness of the products. Moreover, the authority has given play to its professional expertise, innovatively implementing a series of streamlined measures facilitating the process from registration, free testing, to export promotion, and launching a green channel for fresh and perishable agricultural products. Thanks to these efforts, Huaihua's agricultural exports exceeded 120 million CNY in the first 11 months of 2025, soaring 154.2 times year on year.
