Recently, a delegation from the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television attended the 2025 China International Travel Mart in Haikou City, Hainan Province. The delegation also conducted an inbound tourism inspection tour in Sanya, aiming to facilitate tourist flows between the two places, continuously expand the international market, and accelerate the pace of building Changsha into a world-class tourist destination.

At the 2025 China International Travel Mart in Haikou, Changsha presented distinctive local products and tourism offerings through vibrant, multi-faceted promotions. Intangible cultural heritage items and local specialty products were on display, including Liuyang Xiabu cloth, Changsha dough figurines, Hunan embroidery, Liuyang fireworks, and "Liuxiaoli" snacks. The Changsha booth also featured an interactive dough figurine-making experience session, where inheritors of the craft personally guided domestic and foreign guests in kneading dough, enabling them to feel the warmth and fun of this traditional technique.
Immediately after the travel mart, the Changsha delegation traveled to Sanya. The Sanya Phoenix International Airport currently operates 41 international routes, covering 32 international destinations across Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Europe. In the first 11 months of this year, the Sanya airport welcomed 924,600 inbound tourist trips, surpassing its record-high figure in 2019. The annual number is projected to exceed one million. Sanya's international promotion strategy is to deeply integrate route expansion with destination marketing. Changsha is actively learning from Sanya's experience in inbound tourism promotion and international marketing, exploring collaboration mechanisms with the city.
Data shows that in the first three quarters of 2025, Changsha received 327,400 inbound tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 44.72%, calculated on a like-for-like basis. The total spending by inbound tourists reached 223 million USD, marking a year-on-year growth of 34.91%. The number of inbound and outbound passenger trips made at the Changsha port exceeded one million on November 21, 18 days earlier than the previous year. The number of visits by overseas tourists (including those from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) ranked first among the capital cities of the six central Chinese provinces.
Over 3,800 foreign tourist trips have benefited from the visa-free transit policy at the Changsha port of entry this year alone. This figure is equivalent to the total number of visa-free transit passenger trips recorded during the first nine years since the 72-hour visa-free transit policy was implemented on January 1, 2016.
