Recently, Changsha Yuefeng Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd. (below referred to as "Yuefeng Agriculture") signed a cooperation agreement with a farm in Kenya to jointly develop a 600-mu (approximately 40-hectare) vegetable cultivation base in Nairobi, Africa. This marks the first large-scale entry of vegetable cultivation technology from Ansha Town in Changsha County, into the East African market.

In October this year, Zhou Yammin, head of Yuefeng Agriculture, attended the Africa International Agriculture Expo and quickly identified a strong demand in the African market for high-quality agricultural products. Following field surveys in Kisumu, Mombasa, and other regions of Kenya, Zhou's team ultimately selected a farm in Nairobi as the cooperation base. "With fertile land, a favorable climate, and proximity to the airport, this area is ideally positioned to develop modern agriculture," Zhou explained.

From initial contact to formal signing, the two sides reached an agreement in just 45 days. Yuefeng Agriculture has already invested millions of yuan in purchasing agricultural machinery such as tractors and rotary tillers, as well as greenhouse materials, and has completed the export procedures for seeds.

A technical team from the company is expected to arrive in Africa after the 2026 Spring Festival to cultivate the first batch of 200-mu (about 13 hectares) of chili pepper plants. The harvest is anticipated in May next year, with an annual output projected to exceed 800,000 kilograms. In addition to chili peppers, the base will also plant Chinese cabbage, kale, radishes, and other vegetables on a trial basis to further explore local market demand.

Yuefeng Agriculture's confidence in "going global" stems from its solid industrial foundation in Ansha Town. The company operates two modern cultivation bases in Xinhua Village and Heping Village of Ansha Town, serving as the "backbone" of technological research and development and variety breeding. Supported by Ansha Town's favorable business environment that integrates supervision with services, the company has also successfully established the "Tu xiao ya" brand, and its Ansha radish and chopped chili pepper products will also be exported to Africa.

This cooperation has already generated a positive response in East Africa, with farms from multiple countries expressing interest in technology introduction. Zhou Yamin noted that while consolidating existing markets in the Middle East and Germany, the company will steadily explore the local African market, allowing "Ansha seeds" to take root in Africa.

This transcontinental agricultural collaboration embodies Yuefeng Agriculture’s pioneering and striving spirit. It also reflects Changsha County's ongoing efforts to optimize its business environment and promote "going global" in agricultural technology. Next summer, the first batch of Ansha vegetables produced in Africa will make their way to the international market, writing a new chapter in China-Africa agricultural cooperation.
