Hunan Exports First Yacht Through Processing Trade Model

A yacht with a displacement of 32 tonnes and a length of 18.9 meters embarked on its export journey from the Yuanjiang River in Yiyang, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), under the supervision of the Yiyang Customs Authority on November 16, 2025. This marked the first time that Hunan has exported a yacht through the processing-trade customs model.

The yacht was manufactured by a Hunan-based shipbuilder. The yacht’s engine and generator were imported in line with the overseas client’s requirement. The cost is estimated to be cut by 10% as a result of exemption of import tariff and value-added tax based on processing-trade customs arrangements. Later, the company will export another yacht with a displacement of 52.8 tonnes and a length of 23.9 meters to the UAE, while fulfilling yacht orders from Greece, New Zealand, and Malaysia through the processing-trade model.

Yiyang is a shipbuilding hub of Hunan. Cultivating a processing trade industrial cluster featuring high technology and high value-added processing, the Yiyang Customs Authority provides policy consultation services for the shipbuilders, helping them accurately understand and utilize the processing trade policies, and enhancing the export of ships.
