Hunan-Shiga Peaceful and Friendly Relationship Commemoration Event Held in Changsha

An activity to commemorate the Hunan-Shiga peaceful and friendly relationship was held in Changsha on November 9, 2025. Zhang Yingchun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, and Taizo Mikazuki, governor of Japan's Shiga Prefecture, attended and addressed the event.

Executive Vice Governor Zhang noted that Hunan Province and Shiga Prefecture got connected because of the Dongting and Biwa Lakes. Over the past 42 years, the two regions have consistently pursued mutual learning and benefit, and win-win cooperation, achieving fruitful results in various fields such as economy, trade, culture, and education. Looking ahead, Hunan Province is eager to join hands with Shiga Prefecture to advance peaceful and friendly development. The province will focus on lake governance, broaden areas of collaboration, and strengthen people-to-people exchange, to ensure that the torch of Hunan-Shiga friendship is passed down through generations.

Governor Taizo Mikazuki remarked that Shiga Prefecture and Hunan Province have consistently learned from and supported each other throughout the exchange course. The "seeds of communication" sown across various fields have cultivated an unbreakable bond of friendship. Moving forward, the governor expressed his hope that both sides will continue to think together and act in concert, contributing to lasting peace and prosperity worldwide.
