26日晚，刘海涛取餐时路过位于长沙市区人民东路的浏阳河大桥，得知有人落水，刘海涛连忙往河边跑去，最终，成功救起一名落水女子。

“下水前没有多想，上岸后才后怕。”刘海涛提到，事发时天色已暗，自己又有点近视，“但是我不下水去救，一条生命可能就没了” 。
