The 5th Mt Yuelu Youth Theater Festival in 2024 will kick off at Meixi Lake International Culture Art Centre in Changsha City in September. The original French musical “Mozart L’opera Rock” will be staged at the opening ceremony of the festival, building a bridge of friendship for cultural exchanges between China and France.

This festival, lasting for nearly a month, will explore a new model of cultural tourism integration based on drama, and build a popular, and concrete artistic ecosystem.

During the event, international theater groups from various countries will present a cultural and artistic feast that transcends borders and time and space for the audience together with excellent local theater groups.

8 top-notch plays will be specially staged, including 4 international programs, like the original French musical “Mozart L’opera Rock”, the original American stage musical “Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure”, and the dance drama “The Journey to the West”, as well as 4 domestic programs, such as the musical “The Count of Monte Cristo” and the Shanghai Yue Opera Theater’s “Dream of the Red Chamber”.

The festival, with 12 performances, will bring audience a visual feast that integrates modern dramas, dance dramas, and musicals at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, a series of exciting activities will also be launched, such as the artist theme forum, a creators’ meeting, the body workshop, and master classes, providing audience with a diversified and immersive artistic experience.

In addition, a one-week drama themed market will be set up, with cultural and creative products, handicrafts, and specialty food related to drama to be displayed and sold, allowing tourists to feel a strong theatrical atmosphere.

Since 2020, the festival has become an important cultural brand IP in Xiangjiang New Area of Changsha City, promoted the drama art, and provided a strong driving force for the cultural tourism industry.
