Chinese-Korean Couple Explores Zhangjiajie, High-altitude Declaration of Love for Earth

Recently, the internet topic "Mountains in Zhangjiajie 'Filled' with Koreans" surged in popularity. According to statistics from the Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area and the National Forest Park Management Bureau, over 40,000 South Korean tourists visited Zhangjiajie National Forest Park from January to March this year. Why does Zhangjiajie attract Korean tourists so much? On April 22nd, reporters followed Lee Sang-hun, a Korean who has settled in Hunan for many years, and his Hunan Tujia wife, Yu Xiaoqiong, to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park to experience the excellent experience it offers to Chinese and Korean tourists from their perspective.

"A Must-see in this Lifetime" to Witness Nature's Marvels

"If one hasn't been to Zhangjiajie in their lifetime, what's the point of living a hundred years?" This saying circulating in Korea fully reflects Koreans' love for Zhangjiajie. Despite having visited Zhangjiajie "countless times," Lee Sang-hun is still enthusiastic. He believes that every scenery in Zhangjiajie has a unique story. During this trip, he and his wife also participated in the "World Earth Day" charity event in the Yangjiajie scenic area. The event, hosted by the Zhangjiajie Tourism Group, aims to call for more environmental protection and care for the earth through creative means.

As the cable car ascended slowly, Lee Sang-hun marveled at how the peaks of Zhangjiajie are truly "unique everywhere"; upon reaching the observation deck of the Yangjiajie scenic area, rows and rows of unique peak walls left them speechless. "This is the precious natural heritage of Mother Earth," Lee Sang-hun and his wife appealed to global netizens in Korean to protect the earth before these peak walls, "pick up the bottles on the ground and reduce the burden on our common earth."

"A Home Away from Home" - Leisurely and Comfortable Exploration of Zhangjiajie

As the vice president of the Korean Association in Changsha, Hunan Province, Lee Sang-hun is not only a frequent visitor to Zhangjiajie but also a passionate cross-cultural communicator. He often accompanies Korean friends visiting Hunan for the first time to explore Zhangjiajie and is keen on researching the cultural exchanges between Hunan and Korea. He mentioned that Hunan is one of the birthplaces of Confucianism, and many documents from the Joseon Dynasty contain illustrations and descriptions of the "Eight Scenic Views of Xiaoxiang" in Hunan.

In recent years, many Korean tourists have been keen on visiting Zhangjiajie. Lee Sang-hun believes that besides Koreans' love for mountain scenery and Zhangjiajie's fame in Korea, another important reason is the convenience for Korean tourists to travel in Zhangjiajie, without any language barriers. Direct flights between China and Korea, Korean-speaking guides, and Korean-language signage, make Korean tourists feel warmly welcomed and at home.

"Using Beauty as a Medium" to Promote Cross-cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning

"My wife is a Tujia from Zhangjiajie," Lee Sang-hun said with a smile facing the camera. He has special feelings and memories for this land. He came here with his wife when they were dating, and now they have built a family in Hunan, entering a new stage of life. In their vlog, Lee Sang-hun and his wife explored Zhangjiajie with friends from 10 different countries. They visited the Yangjiajie scenic area, Baofeng Lake, the Ten-Mile Gallery, stayed in mountain guesthouses for camping, experienced ethnic minority costumes, learned to sing Tujia folk songs from intangible cultural heritage inheritors, and experienced the characteristic long-table feast. International friends marveled at the marvels of nature in Zhangjiajie and were excited about the touching Tujia folk songs. "With just a few lines of lyrics, the layers are so rich, and the melody is very interesting!" When they learned that there are tens of thousands of such songs in Sangzhi, most of which are love songs, Sinna, a student from Zambia, gave a thumbs up, "Such expression is so romantic!"

After experiencing the distinctive Zhangjiajie long-table feast, Lee Sang-hun and his international friends celebrated their trip with "hot songs and dances." When familiar Korean songs like "Little Apple" and "Three Bears" played, it brought the atmosphere to a climax. There were not only melodious Xiangxi folk songs but also lively Korean dances. It was a lively cross-cultural exchange trip among friends from 11 different countries.

"Friends from various countries gather here because of Zhangjiajie's 'beautiful scenery,' which is the best cross-cultural exchange," Lee Sang-hun said. Being able to recommend Zhangjiajie to more foreign friends through vlogs, letting everyone understand the beautiful scenery and culture here, is a very honorable thing.
