The 2024 Hunan (Spring) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival as well as Hunan (Spring) Village Gala Demonstration Activity was held in Pingjiang County, Yueyang City on April 19.

With the theme of “a homelike Pingjiang with magnificent mountains and waters”, a series of activities including the opening ceremony, a promotion conference on model cases of boosting rural revitalization through cultural tourism and a 3D virtual tour in Xianxia Valley of Honglianbing Village were held.

At the opening ceremony, a boutique tourist route was launched by Pingjiang County to showcase the culture, life, scenery and tourism of rural areas in the county and attract more tourists.

After the opening ceremony, the Hunan (Spring) Village Gala Demonstration Activity was also held, with three chapters. Characteristic intangible cultural heritage programs like Pingjiang folk songs, Pingjiang Huadeng opera and Mufu martial arts were staged, winning cheers from the on-site audience.

Pingjiang County, together with Tongcheng County in Hubei Province and Xiushui County in Jiangxi Province, announced that they will jointly build the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Tianyue Mufu Mountain into a national demonstration zone for the integrated development of culture and tourism at the promotion conference. They also jointly released high-quality tourism routes and signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the exchange of tourists, contributing to the construction of a green development pilot zone.

In recent years, Pingjiang County has focused on strengthening county with tourism, and adhered to the path of green development. It has successfully applied for the creation of a national demonstration zone for the integration of cultural tourism, and created a national ecological civilization demonstration zone, a national model area for rural revitalization, a national leading area for all-for-one tourism, and a national characteristic industry gathering area. It has successfully turned natural resources into real benefits.

In 2023, Pingjiang County received over 15.7772 million tourists and generated a total revenue of over 16.242 billion yuan, an increase of 81.5% and 85.93% respectively.
