More than 20 media professionals from Chinese mainland and Taiwan visited Hunan Province to explore its tea culture, starting a joint interview event from April 17.

Tea is known as the magical oriental leaves, and tea culture is an important part of traditional Chinese culture. As an important producing area of tea, Hunan has various types of tea such as Baojing Golden Tea, Anhua Dark Tea and Yuanling Jietan Tea.

This joint interview team will visit important tea producing areas in Hunan province, such as Anhua County, Yuanling County, Guzhang County and Baojing County to explore the tea industry and its contribution to rural revitalization and tea exchanges.

They first arrived in Anhua County, Yiyang City, which is the source of Chinese dark tea, as well as a starting point of the tea-horse ancient road and the 10,000-mile tea road.

Song Zhichen, chairman of Taiwan Cross-Straits Cultural and Economic Association and president of Taiwan News, said that the development of Anhua Dark Tea and innovative technology in tea making can be said to be a major innovation of the traditional tea industry, which makes him very excited about this trip.

“The tea culture on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can be traced to the same origin. Taiwan’s Oolong tea, black tea, green tea and others have been developing well, and there are great potentials for cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan.” After tasting Anhua dark tea, Song Zhichen purchased tea for his friends in Taiwan. He's looking forward to strengthened exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan for further development of the tea industry.
