To promote the deep integration of culture and tourism of Changde and introduce its rich cultural tourism resources, Changde City recommended four high-quality tourism routes.

Tour route for leisure

Starting from Changde Hejie Street, tourists can start their urban leisure journey. They can watch intangible cultural heritage performances and programs in an ancient theater, take snaps at the old photo gallery, and taste delicious snacks at the Hejie street.

Strolling along the German-style street, tourists will experience the rich exotic atmosphere. They can appreciate the art of poetry, calligraphy, paintings and carvings on the Changde Poem Wall, the world’s longest artistic wall built on the flood control levees.

Tourists can visit the typical quadrangle dwellings in the northwest of Hunan Province at the old western gate, and then go to the national 5A tourist attraction, Taohuayuan. Finally, they can watch the large-scale stream live performance “The Peach Colony”.

Tour route for families

Tourists can get close to cute animals in Changde Wildlife World, enjoy exciting circus performances and appreciate beautiful scenery on a helicopter a hot air balloon.

At the Changde Hejie Street, they can watch wonderful intangible cultural heritage performances, and taste Changde’s unique cuisine. At night, they can take a boat to watch the large-scale light live-action performance “Memory of Changde”, and feel the charm of Chuanzi River.

Then, tourists can go to the Liuye Lake Fishermen’s Song Art Camp and Huxian Isle, experience the charm of VR technologies and entertainment projects at Kale Planet, and enjoy water games at the water world.

Tour route for culture

At Changde Hejie Street, tourists can go to the ICH base to soak up the unique charm of Changde’s ICH, and experience the Hejie street in the works of cultural celebrities such as Liu Yuxi, Shen Congwen and Huang Yongyu.

They can visit the Changde Poem Wall and Jiangnan Painting Wall to experience the unique landscapes on both sides of Yuanjiang River. They can also take a bath in Yunding hot springs in Reshi Town of Taoyuan County, and learn about the bathing culture of millennium hot springs.

Finally, they can experience the culture of Taohuayuan and appreciate the beautiful life in Taohuayuan Scenic Area.

Tour route for study

Tourists can learn and experience ICH projects in Changde Hejie Street, and inherit cultural heritage through integration and innovation. Then, they can go to the Taohuayuan Scenic Area to read “The Peach Colony”, and appreciate traditional Chinese culture, agricultural culture and the beauty of human landscapes depicted in ancient Chinese poems.

Finally, they can also go to Chengtoushan Culture Site, dating back to 6,500 years ago, to experience the development and inheritance of agricultural culture.
