‘Sanyuesan’ Festival celebrations kick off in scenic areas across Hunan

“Sanyuesan Festival”, which was a time for young men and women to date in ancient times, falls on April 11 this year. Many scenic areas in Hunan Province launched national-style and love themed activities to celebrate the festival.

The 11th Mud Festival kicked off in the Red Stone Forest Resort of Furong Town, Xiangxi Prefecture on April 11 and will continue until August 10.

“Sanyuesan” is the traditional Valentine’s Day of the Tujia ethnic group, and it is a traditional custom of the Tujia people to find love at the Mud Festival.

The celebrations were started with a sacred ceremony. Such wonderful activities as a three-color mud parade, a mud carnival, a song and dance show, a blind date, and a bonfire carnival will also be held. At the same time, it will also launch an activity to win cultural and creative gifts by taking photos with a three-color mud makeup.

The first blind date event for single men and women was held in the 72 Tujia Stilted Buildings Town on April 11.

Tourists could participate in the matchmaking activity at the entrance of the scenic area and Xiangxi Market Street. There were also special activities such as climbing flower ladders and entering Tujia wedding rooms.

The blind date event may become a regular program in the scenic area in the future.
The 15th “Sanyuesan” Festival was held in Qianyang Ancient Town, Hongjiang City, Huaihua City on April 11, which will last for three days.

During the festival, the scenic area will launch wonderful activities such as the “Twelve Flower Goddesses” tour and the intangible cultural heritage market in the ancient Tang and Song-style alleys and courtyards, presenting a folk cultural feast to tourists.

The “Sanyuesan” Festival in Qianyang Ancient Town has been held for fourteen times and has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage projects.
