A media briefing on the 2024 Hunan (Spring) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival and Hunan (Spring) Village Gala Demonstration Showcase was held in Yueyang recently. The festival will take place in Pingjiang County between April 19 and 20, according to the organizing committee.

With the theme of "a homelike Pingjiang with magnificent mountains and waters," the festival is hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Yueyang City, and organized by the Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, and Television of Yueyang City and the People's Government of Pingjiang County.

Five major activities will be arranged, including one theme activity— the 2024 Hunan (Spring) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival Opening Ceremony and Hunan (Spring) Village Gala Demonstration Showcase, and four supporting activities—a media briefing, cultural tourism promotional activities and hands-on events, a promotion conference on model cases of boosting rural revitalization through cultural tourism, and a 3D virtual tour in Honglianbing Village and Xianxia Valley. The aim is to showcase Pingjiang County's rural culture, rural life, beautiful scenery, and rural tourism resources.

Hunan has held the season-based rural cultural tourism festival for 26 sessions since 2016 and has organized the National Village Gala Demonstration Showcase of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for four years in a row. A number of cultural tourism products, which are in line with the development trends of rural areas and meet market demand, have been introduced. A series of rural tourism brands have been fostered to enhance the popularity of Hunan's rural tourism. The efforts have helped lift local people out of poverty and boost rural revitalization across the board.
Pingjiang County has spared no efforts to build the tourism brand of "a homelike Pingjiang with magnificent mountains and waters." The county has been among China's top 100 counties with comprehensive tourism strength for six consecutive years.
