In the first quarter of this year, the Huaihua International Land Port have handled 182 fixed-schedule freight trains to ASEAN countries, increasing by 61 percent year on year. Among them, 75 trains were bound for Laos, which is consistent with the previous year's annual figure, according to the Huaihua International Land Port Development Co., Ltd.

"The bulk export of ammonium sulfate which is used for mineral separation and fertilizer production in Southeast Asia reached 1,136 TEUs in the first quarter, about 40 times more than that in the same period of last year. The import of cassava starch amounted to 1,314 TEUs, with a total weight of 17,000 tonnes, nearly reaching the annual imports of last year," said Lei Mingxiong, a manager of the company.

In response to the continuous increase of the import and export volume at the Huaihua International Land Port, the China Railway Guangzhou Group's multimodal freight train service department has set up a special team catering to the needs of the freight train operations of the port. The marketing and production dispatching departments of the Changsha Railway Logistics Center, and the Huaihua Business Department of the group have joined and played vigorous roles.

Based on a comprehensive investigation, the frequency of the schedule-fixed Huaihua-Vientiane freight train service has been increased from once a week to three times a week, beginning from April 1. The Huaihua Business Department has carried out a drop and pull transport service as a temporary supplement to the schedule-fixed train service. In this way, the exported cargo trailers can be combined to the direct trains as soon as they arrive, which will greatly improve the transportation efficiency.

Beyond that, the Huaihua Customs Authority has leveraged its advantages as a hub in the "dual circulation" development pattern, continuously carrying out "intelligent customs service" and related initiatives, and implementing a series of measures to facilitate customs clearance, loading and unloading, inspection, and reservation services. These efforts have helped enhance the regular operation of the China-Laos, China-Vietnam, and rail-sea intermodal freight train services.
