On March 28, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the list of “2023-2025 National Intangible Cultural Heritage Productive Protection Demonstration Bases”. Four units in Hunan made the list, namely, Dongxin Fireworks Group Co., Ltd., Hunan Embroidery Research Institute, Zhangjiajie Guaiyaomei Tujia Brocade Development Co., Ltd., and Xiangxi Miaoxiu Essence Cultural Industry Development Co., Ltd.

Dongxin Fireworks Group Co., Ltd., established in 1996, integrates scientific research, production, sales and setting off of fireworks, and has Class-A qualification to set off fireworks.

It has staged large and medium-sized fireworks shows in important occasions such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, the Tian’anmen celebration of the 60th and 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 2009 and 2019, the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games, attracting wide attention.

Hunan Embroidery Research Institute is a professional organization engaged in the research and development, production, and sales of Hunan embroidery in China.

It has been recognized as a “Chinese time-honored brand”, a national-level demonstration base for the productive protection of intangible cultural heritage, and a protection unit for representative projects of intangible cultural heritage in Hunan Province.

There are 9 national-level and 10 provincial-level masters of arts and crafts, 4 representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, 6  experts enjoying special government allowance, and a large number of high-level and intermediate professional and technical personnel in the company.

Besides, it has four trademarks, including “Jincaixia”, “Feizhu”, “Xiushiguang”, and “Sisu”. Among them, “Jincaixia” is the first registered trademark of Hunan embroidery.

Zhangjiajie Guaiyaomei Tujia Brocade Development Co., Ltd., established in 2014, is currently the largest production base for Tujia brocade in China. Tujia brocade, known as the “flower of Tujia”, is one of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage in China.

Xiangxi Miaoxiu Essence Cultural Industry Development Co., Ltd., set up in 2014, focuses on inheriting and promoting ethnic minority culture. On the basis of maintaining the original cultural connotation, it integrates intangible cultural heritage with modern fashion and brings traditional embroidered fabrics with Miao embroidery elements into people’s lives.

At present, the company has built 8 Miao embroidery bases in Xiangxi Prefecture, training a total of 20,000 embroidery women and providing jobs for nearly 2,000 embroidery women.
