The first China Extreme Wilderness Survival Challenge kicked off at the Zhangshu Camp of Zhangjiajie City on the morning of March 29.

Ten male contestants from Inner Mongolia, Henan, Guizhou, Hebei, Yunnan, Guangxi, and other places competed in different wilderness environments in Zhangjiajie for survival challenges. The ultimate winner will receive a prize of 100,000 yuan.

The event consists of “surviving on a deserted island” and “living alone in the wilderness”. After the opening ceremony, the contestants came to the deserted island of Zhangshu Camp in the center of the Lishui River with simple clothes and tools to start their competition.

The three contestants who can stay for the longest time on the deserted island relying on their survival skills in the wilderness will enter the second stage.

The entire competition will be live streamed online.

“Zhangjiajie has beautiful scenery and unique landform. The event aims to showcase the unknown beauty and rich outdoor tourism resources of Zhangjiajie to the world, and make Zhangjiajie the birthplace of wilderness survival challenge in China and the first competition base,” said Long Wu, the event planner.

In recent years, as an outdoor challenge activity that ordinary people can participate in, Wilderness Survival has sparked a global craze through programs such as British Explorer Bear Grylls’ “Wilderness Survival”. The program with high prize money “Living Alone in Wilderness”, which is popular in the United States, has also attracted countless fans for this activity.

According to statistics, wilderness survival programs have been favored by over 1 billion people, with broad market prospects, and the domestic audience are mainly middle-aged and young men with certain consumption abilities.
