Changsha's Construction Machinery Exports to EU, Africa Surge in First Two Months

Changsha's foreign trade value hit 37.74 billion yuan in the first two months of 2024, data from the Xingsha Customs Authority showed. Of the total, exports were 21.15 billion yuan, while imports stood at 16.59 billion yuan, up 9.7% over the previous year. During the January-February period, Changsha's construction machinery exports reached 3.71 billion yuan, with the exports to the EU and Africa increasing by 85.3% and 42.4%, respectively. The growth rate of high-tech products was stable. In particular, the exports of liquid crystal display (LCD) flat panels and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) flat panel display modules surged 589.7% on average.

In the first two months this year, Changsha's top three trading partners were ASEAN, the EU, and South Korea, with the bilateral trade totaling 6.18 billion yuan, 4.03 billion yuan and 2.81 billion yuan, respectively. The trade between Changsha and the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 20.33 billion yuan. Changsha's trade with RCEP member countries and African countries stood at 11.02 billion yuan and 1.78 billion yuan, respectively. The import and export value of Changsha's small and medium-sized enterprises that specialize in niche sectors soared over 60% year on year to 1.05 billion yuan, and accounted for 46.5% of the total import and export value of such enterprises in Hunan Province. 

Fireworks exports saw a rise in both volume and price. A total of 24,000 tonnes of fireworks products were exported, up 11.9% year on year. The value of these exported products was 520 million yuan, an increase of 27.5%, and the average unit price grew by 13.9%.
