The Hunan-Multinationals Conference was held in Qingdao City, Shandong Province on October 10. Xiao Bailing, vice chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended and delivered a speech.
The Hunan delegation briefed on the open economy development of Hunan Province and promoted the industrial planning and investment environment of industrial parks such as Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone and Xiangtan Economic and Technological Development Zone. In addition, the delegation had in-depth communication with more than 60 multinationals heads.
Representatives of five multinational corporations made speeches, including Mitsubishi Electric (China) Co., Ltd., TOMRA, Beifang Offshore Drilling (Qingdao) Co., Ltd., Zap Surgical Systems, and Air Products. They stated that Hunan is a primary manufacturing base in China and a significant trade logistics center and transportation hub in central China. They hoped to further strengthen communication and collaboration with Hunan, offering globally leading products, technologies, and solutions to support Hunan's high-quality development.
The Hunan delegation stated that Hunan is committed to creating more mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities and strives to improve the business environment. The province is willing to work with multinational companies, pursuing mutual learning and complementarity, and jointly creating a brighter future.
In recent years, foreign investment in Hunan has continued to grow, with wider sources of foreign capital. Multinational companies such as Bosch from Germany, Veolia from France, and Temasek from Singapore have chosen to invest in Hunan, and there are 188 Fortune Global 500 companies investing in Hunan. Hunan's actual utilization of foreign capital increased from 1.1 billion USD in 2019 to 3.53 billion USD in 2022. By the end of 2022, there were 2,919 foreign-funded enterprises in Hunan, creating job opportunities for 346,000 people, with a total investment of 132.7 billion USD.
