Hunan's Little-Known Facts ③ | Why is Hunan rice noodles so popular?

什么?湖南人身体流淌的不是血，而是粉?没错！俗话说：“清晨一碗粉，神仙坐不稳。”

What? It's not blood that runs in Hunan people veins, but rice noodles? That's right! There's saying: "A bowl of rice noodles in the morning, even immortals can't sit still."

湖南人嗦粉，跟着节气走才对！清明前要加香椿，立秋后必炒糙米粉，冬至得喝羊肉粉汤暖丹田！

Before Qingming Festival, it's must to add Chinese toon; after beginning of Autumn, stir-fried brown rice noodles are a must; and on the Winter Solstice, you should drink mutton noodle soup to warm your elixir field!

米粉这家伙，出了湖南，可又玩起了变脸，你认得出来啵？在广西它成了螺蛳的伙伴，在江西它与花生结友，在广东它又独爱大火……

This rice noodle guy, once out of Hunan, starts to put on a different faces. Can you recognize it? In Guangxi, it becomes a companion to snails; in Jiangxi, it befriends peanuts; in Guangdong, it's head over heels for high heat...

湖南人爱嗦粉，因为粉里煮着山水、熬着时光、缠着牵挂，在外漂泊的家“湘”人啊，无论走多远，总有碗粉等你回家。

People in Hunan are obsessed with slurping rice noodles, for within those noodles simmers the landscape, brews the passage of time, and lingers the ties of affection for those from Hunan, who wander far from home.
