At 11:05 on July 2, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan rail-road multimodal freight train pulled out of the Changsha International Railway Port under the supervision and with the approval of the Xingsha Customs Authority. This marked Hunan's first international freight train adopting the rail-road multimodal transportation mode to export cargos. The train, loaded with 19.28 tonnes of tea, will be changed into road transport after arriving in Kashgar, Xinjiang. The cargos will exit from Irkeshtan Port, pass through Kyrgyzstan, and finally arrive in Uzbekistan.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan rail-road multimodal freight train service has opened up a new freight transportation channel from Hunan to Central Asia, covering the whole territory of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This service innovatively adopts the intermodal transportation mode of "domestic freight train plus cross-border highway transportation," combining the railway's advantages of large capacity, long distance, and all-weather capability with the highway's convenient, flexible, and door-to-door transportation. It makes the cargo transfer more convenient through vehicles and station supporting facilities, to build up a shorter, faster, and more economical westward channel for enterprises in Hunan and the neighboring areas. The service can also be extended to West Asia, the Middle East, South Europe and other markets, realizing the flexibile multi-destination cargo grouping.

A spokesperson of the Central South China International Land Port Co., Ltd. introduced that Hunan's exports of machinery and equipment, tea, and other products to Central Asia can reach the customers faster, thanks to the opening of this new channel. The total costs of transportation and insurance can be saved by 30%, and the time is also shortened from the original 25 days to about 15 days. This is extremely critical for urgent delivery orders and high value-added, perishable products, which will help enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the international market.
