Changsha City, the capital of Central China’s Hunan Province, promoted cultural and tourism resources in Bristol, the UK, on August 10. The culture and tourism department of Changsha City showcased their tailored hot air balloons at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2024, the largest hot air balloon festival in Europe.

Yi Ying, deputy director of the publicity department of the Changsha Municipal Party Committee made an English speech, pointing out that Changsha is a cultural city with a history of 3,000 years and a modern new city with a population of over 10 million. With a land area of 11,800 square kilometers, Changsha City has long-standing historical culture, profound revolutionary culture and vibrant modern culture, providing rich tourism experiences for tourists from all over the world, warmly inviting international tourism organizations and tourists to come here to experience its unique culture, scenery and cuisine.

The Bristol Balloon Fiesta was first held in 1979 and now is the world’s top and Europe’s largest international balloon event. During this year’s balloon fiesta, flags of participating countries including China were raised in front of the Bristol City Hall. Overseas Chinese students from the University of Bristol dressed in traditional Chinese clothes showcased their confidence in Chinese culture.

To explore the international market and expand overseas tourism business, Changsha organized a three-day 2024 Changsha Inbound Tourism Matchmaking Meeting from May 11 to 13 this year. About 100 foreign guests from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other European and Commonwealth countries visited Changsha, becoming the largest overseas professional travel agent delegation welcomed by the domestic city this year.

As a follow-up visit, the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Television closely collaborated with the Bristol City and West of England Tourism Bureau, and organized industrial parks, units, and related cultural and creative enterprises such as the Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, Hunan Overseas Travel and Shanxi Culture to carry out a series of exchange and promotion activities, product exhibitions, and cooperation negotiations during the Bristol Balloon Fiesta.

Taking advantage of policies such as the visa-free transit policy and intercontinental direct flights, Changsha will increase more efforts to promote Hunan culture and international tourism, allowing Chinese culture to go global and bringing in world elements.
