2024年2月，来自奥地利的盖德勒·罗伯特获得2023年度中国政府友谊奖。中国政府友谊奖是中国政府表彰为中国现代化建设和改革开放事业中作出突出贡献的外国专家而设立的最高奖项。

In February 2024, Robert Geldner from Austria won the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award. The Chinese Government Friendship Award is the highest award established by the Chinese government to recognize foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization construction and reform and opening-up cause.

“这是我生命中非常重要的时刻。”盖德勒说，获奖后，他立即与其在中国和奥地利的家人分享了喜悦，每个人都替他感到自豪。盖德勒说：“对我来说，中国和奥地利都是我的故乡。”

Geldner said, “this was a very great moment in my life.” He has to share it immediately with his family in China, but also with his family in Austria, and everybody was very proud. He said:“And so for me,  China is the same home,  like the home that I have in Austria.”

盖德勒今年58岁，个子高大，一脸和善。1994年的一个冬日，盖德勒因出差在北京转机，这是他第一次来到中国。当时，他怎么也想不到，25年后，他受邀在北京天安门广场观礼；30年后，他又登上了北京人民大会堂领奖台。

Robert Geldner is 58 years old this year, tall and friendly. On a winter day in 1994, Geldner transferred in Beijing for a business trip, which was his first time in China. At that time, he never expected that in 25 years, he would be invited to attend the ceremony at Tiananmen Square in Beijing; and in 30 years, he would get on the podium at Beijing's Great Hall of the People.

从1999年开始，盖德勒先后参与到中国新一代电力机车、第一辆A型铝合金地铁车辆、第一辆时速350公里高速列车等产品研制当中。2015年，中车株洲电力机车有限公司邀请盖德勒来担任焊接总监。在株机公司，盖德勒牵头攻克了高性能铝合金焊丝材料、高强钢材焊接等技术难题，推动新型高性能焊机选型、焊接管理平台建设、转向架智能焊接生产线投产。在他的带领下，株机公司的焊接自动化率从2015年的35%左右上升至现在的80%左右，调车机车、动车组等轨道交通装备出口欧洲。

From 1999, Robert Geldner has participated in the development of China's new generation electric locomotives, the first A-type aluminum alloy subway vehicle, and the first high-speed train with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. In 2015, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Company invited Robert Geldner to serve as the welding director. In the company, Robert Geldner has taken the lead in overcoming technical difficulties such as high-performance aluminum alloy welding wire materials and high-strength steel welding, promoting the selection of new high-performance welding machines, construction of welding management platforms, and production of intelligent welding production lines for bogies.Under the leadership of Robert Geldner, the welding automation rate of the company has increased from around 35% in 2015 to around 80% now, and rail transit equipment such as shunting locomotives and high-speed trains are exported to Europe.

盖德勒已在株洲生活多年。他很喜欢湖南菜，特别是剁椒鱼头。盖德勒最大的爱好就是开越野摩托车，内心有点“狂野”。他说：“我很想去内蒙古，想骑着我的摩托车穿越那里。这是我最大的梦想。”

Geldner has been living in Zhuzhou for many years. He especially likes to eat the “yu tou”, the fish head. Geldner's greatest hobby is driving the off-road motorcycle, and he is actually a bit “wild” inside. He said:“Where still want to go is the Inner Mongolia. I would like to go with my motorbike to the travel through the Inner Mongolia. This is my big dream.”
