The 4th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Cup is scheduled to be held in Miluo City in October 2024. A delegation led by IDBF President Claudio Schermi paid a visit to Miluo recently, learning about dragon boat culture, dragon boat racing, and the dragon boat industry as well as Miluo's preliminary work for the competition.

Mr. Claudio Schermi and his entourage visited the Miluo International Dragon Boat Race Center, Quzi Temple Town's Duanwu Resettlement Site, Quzi Cultural Park, and Quzi Dragon Boat Co., Ltd. The aim was to study Miluo's supportive facilities for the international race, the inheritance of dragon boat culture, and the development of the dragon boat industry. The delegation's visit was a move to commemorate Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), a well-known patriotic poet from ancient China. The members also experienced folk customs of the Duanwu Festival. Afterwards, a meeting was held to discuss issues about Miluo's hosting of the 4th IDBF World Cup. Attendees delivered related reports and exchanged views.

Miluo culture has been passed down continually along the Miluo River for more than 2,000 years. The dragon boat racing and the dragon boat industry are flourishing in Miluo. Duanwu Customs Observed Along the Miluo River was inscribed on the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The China (Miluo River) International Dragon Boat Race has been held for 19 sessions since 2005, attracting participants from more than 30 countries and regions. Miluo has fostered dragon boat manufacturers, with products selling well at home and abroad. The city has been honored as "the City of Dragon Boat in China" by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Dragon Boat Association.
