The 2023 China Red Tourism Exposition opened in Yudu County, Jiangxi Province on the morning of December 9. The expo featured three main events and four supporting activities. Qin Guowen, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. 

Red tourism refers to visiting historical sites with a modern revolutionary legacy.
The expo was hosted by the Jiangxi and Hunan provincial governments, with the theme of "New Long March of Red Tourism for Next Stage". It was attended by more than 600 people, including representatives from members of the China Red Tourism Promotion Alliance, cities and counties along the route of Long March, a Hunan-Jiangxi community for red tourism, China's key red tourism scenic areas (sites), cultural tourism enterprises, travel agencies, red study tour training institutions, and media outlets.
The three main events included:
- An opening ceremony;
- A themed exhibition; and,
- A dialogue on China's high-quality development of red tourism.
The four supporting activities included:
- A call for creative designs of red tourism focusing on new technologies, new scenarios, new formats of business, and new cultural creation;
- Retracing the route of the Long March;
- China Red Study Tour Global Promotion; and,
- Exploring high-quality red tourism routes. 
After the opening ceremony, Vice Governor Qin visited the Hunan Pavilion. He observed carefully the exhibits and spoke highly of the pavilion layout and creative elements. The theme of the pavilion was "Red Picture Scroll of Xiaoxiang Paying Respect to the New Era". The exhibition was divided into three parts to demonstrate Hunan's red tourism resources, red cultural creative products, and red or revolutionary performances. On the opening day, the Hunan Pavilion was very popular and attracted a large number of tourists.
