11月26日下午，香港新界大埔屋邨宏福苑多栋住宅楼发生火灾，造成重大人员伤亡，牵动社会各界关注。

灾情发生后，湘籍企业和企业家积极募捐、驰援香港。11月27日下午，香港湖南联谊总会发起救灾募捐活动，截至29日上午11时，募捐超过6000万元。

除积极捐款外，湘籍企业家还捐助轮椅和其他医疗辅助用具、调配储能设备，用于现场临时安置点的应急供电，为现场应急照明、居民休整及物资运输提供后援保障。
